My Harley Fat Glide

Start to Finish Pictures of my Dyna Wide Glide Conversion

In May of 2003, We purchased a brand new Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide. It included stock attributes that I liked such as chrome-everything, exposed-spring rear suspension, sissy bar, wide front forks, etc. The stock Dyna also had other things that I didn't like so much. they include the small 5-1/4" headlight, no passing lights, no windshield, footpegs instead of floorboards. I knew that some changes were in order. The price for the DWG was a couple thousand less than a comparable soft tail model, so there was room for incremental customization. Without hesitation, Judy and I bought a brand new 100th Anniversary edition FXDyna Wide Glide.

One of the things I initially liked about the 2003 Anniversary edition was the silver/black anniversary colors. I still think they're very pretty, but there's a slight problem. There are reportedly 250,000 silver and black 100th Anniversary painted Harleys! It soon became obvious that a color scheme change was necessary to differentiate my scooter from the 249,000 others.

My plan was to convert the Dyna to a "Touring / Cruiser" and change the color scheme to my own preferences. Within a week, I began my customization. I've documented some of my work and the work of R&H Painting. Click the buttons to the left to view the pictures. These are the most recent pictures, taken Thanksgiving Day, 2004.
