Removing the Nut

Previous | Home | Next
Well, here I am.  This is a staged picture (thank you Judy), taken after the nut had already been broken loose.  Like the clutch pack nut, the final drive pulley nut loosens in the clockwise direction, backwards from normal.  It is also on with Locktite and is very, very tight.  I heated the nut just a little bit to soften the Locktite (without even getting the drive belt warm).  It's easy enough to take the transmission top off and shifters out to put the transmission in multiple gears simultaneously to hold the transmission output shaft stationary as HarleyHog did.
