Top Nut Exposed

Previous | Home | Next

Removing the chrome cover exposed the top nut that secured the top triple clamp to the steerer stem. Underneath the nut is a keeper with a tab that inserts into a hole in the top clamp and one side bent up against a facet of the nut to keep it from working loose. I simply flattened the keeper. Then, using the proper socket, I removed the nut by turning it in the normal loosening (counterclockwise) direction. This does not affect the pivot bearing adjustment.
