Polising the Shank

There's a step missing from the pictoral because it took two hands to do it. The step you missed is where I take a fine-toothed triangle file and grind imperfections off the taper and the shank. I also dull the threading just a tiny bit to make it work more smoothly into the oil pump.

Here, I'm polishing the shank, mostly for aesthetics. It's not really required for alignment operation. The lathe is spinning at about 600 rpm.
