Shank Cut

While I'm at it, I begin cutting the shank down to .185 (using the same math but substituting .185' for .248' in the previous step.

Here you can see the end of the alignment tool is ready for threading. If the shank is not cut to less than the minor dimension of the threads, the oio pump internal threads would be damaged when the pin is screwed in to seat for alignment.
